Wedding Planner vs. Day of Coordinator – what is the difference?

Patti and wedding planning

We get asked this question a lot…What is the difference between a wedding planner and a day of coordinator?

A wedding planner is a professional who is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a wedding from start to finish. They work closely with the couple to understand their vision and preferences, help them select vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage the entire planning process. They may also provide design and styling services, manage the budget, and coordinate all the logistics leading up to the wedding day.

On the other hand, a day-of coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the wedding day runs smoothly. They typically step in closer to the wedding date to oversee the final details and coordinate with vendors. They will work with the couple to create a detailed timeline for the day and ensure that everything runs according to plan. They are typically on-site for the entire wedding day, managing any issues and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Came across an article that might help explain it in a different manner: https://weddingplanningpodcast.co/doc/

Overall, while a wedding planner handles the entire wedding planning process from start to finish, a day-of coordinator focuses specifically on managing the wedding day itself. However, some wedding planners also offer day-of coordination services as part of their packages.

Patti, our lead wedding/event planner, offers both services and much more!
